PM Modi on Sunday dedicated three petroleum sector projects

New Delhi (Natural Energy News): The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement on Friday that the projects include the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur pipeline augmentation project and the Durgapur-Banka section of two LPG bottling plants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate three major projects related to the petroleum sector in Bihar to the nation through a video conference on Sunday, his office said.


The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement on Friday that the projects include the Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur pipeline augmentation project and two LPG bottling plants.





Giving this information, it said that the 193-km Durgapur-Banka pipeline section constructed by Indian Oil is part of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur pipeline augmentation project, for which the foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister in February 2019.

The segment is an extension of the existing 679 km Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline for the new LPG bottling plant at Banka, Bihar.


The statement said that the pipeline passes through West Bengal (60 km), Jharkhand (98 km) and Bihar (35 km).



The laying of the channel under the Durgapur-Banka area needed crossing many natural and man-made boundaries, mentioning that a total of 154 crossings were linked, including 13 rivers, five national highways and three railway crossings were included.


The PMO said the pipeline was laid under the riverbed through state-of-the-art horizontal directional drilling technology.

The LPG bottling plant at Banka said that meeting the increasing demand for LPG in the state would enhance Bihar's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-sufficiency).

This bottling plant has been constructed with an investment of approximately Rs.131.75 crore to assist in Krishnaganj, Bhagalpur, Araria, Jamui, Banka, and Katihar regions of Bihar as well as Pakur, Godda, Dumka, Deoghar and Sahibganj districts of Jharkhand. Said this





The bottling plant at Harsiddhi in East Champaran has been constructed at a cost of Rs 136.4 crore.


The PMO said that Modi laid the foundation stone of the project in April 2018.


He said that the bottling plant would cater to the LPG requirement of East Champaran, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Siwan, Gopalganj and Sitamarhi districts of Bihar.

Sources had earlier said that the Prime Minister will inaugurate and inaugurate the development works worth Rs 16,000 crore in the polluting Bihar in the next 10 days.
