CPI-M opposes Centre's move to privatize Bharat Petroleum

Party leaders and activists also joined some BPCL contract workers in the protest march


Visakhapatnam (Natural Energy News): Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders staged a protest in Visakhapatnam on Monday demanding that the Center should avoid privatization of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.





CPI-M leaders said that privatization of the state-owned enterprise would increase the prices of petrol, diesel, gas and kerosene, which would increase the prices of essential commodities, harm youth employment and damage to the country's economy.

He warned the Center to immediately withdraw its anti-people and seditious policies.


Along with party leaders and workers, some contract workers of BPCL also participated in the protest march.


The central government reportedly wants to sell its stake in Bharat Petroleum. According to reports, there are initial expressions of interests or EOIs on 30 September, after which qualified bidders will be asked to submit their bids.
