India installed 5.4 GW of solar capacity in FY 2020, to add 6.7 GW in FY 2021: Report

It said that 1.7 GW capacity was installed in the rooftop solar segment in FY20 and 1.4 GW capacity projects are expected to be commissioned in FY21.

New  (Natural Energy News): India installed about 5.9 GW (GW) of utility-scale solar capacity in the financial year 2019-20 (FY20) and according to a recent report, adding another 6.6 GW of capacity in FY 21 Estimates.




It added that 1.7 GW capacity was installed in the rooftop solar section in FY 20 and 1.4 GW capacity projects are expected to be commissioned in FY 21.




JMK Research and Analytics said in its report, "Rajasthan, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu together contribute around 77 percent of the total installed capacity in FY20, with capacities of 1.7 GW, 1.4 GW, and 1.3 GW respectively."

According to the report, domestic module manufacturers contributed about 40 percent of the total shipments to the Indian solar market in FY20. This included the supply of utility-scale solar as well as distributed solar markets in the country.

“In the utility scale solar market, domestic suppliers account for about 30 percent. Whereas in the distributed solar market, 70 percent of the market is catered by domestic suppliers. "




The Gurugram-based firm said that NLC topped Revan's list in SB Energy and then in the project development category, adding that going forward, Adani and Azur will be key players with a pipeline of 10 GW and 5 WW respectively.

However, in the rooftop solar segment, Tata Power Solar, Cleantech Solar, and Fourth Partner Energy were the leading installers in India in FY20.
