Now only Rs 5 per acre per year for solar project land in Andhra Pradesh

The government has already brought the lease rate on government land at a nominal value of Rs 5 per acre at the rate of Rs 31,000 per acre.

VIJAYAWADA (Natural Energy News): After the approval of the Council of Ministers, the Department of Energy has revised the tariff model of the 10,000 MW solar power project from 15 years to 25 years previously approved.



The government has already brought the lease rate on government land at a nominal value of Rs 5 per acre at the rate of Rs 31,000 per acre.

According to the order (MS 19) issued by the ex-officio Principal Secretary G Sai Prasad on Friday, amendments were made to the pre-approved policy as per the guidelines of Solar Energy Corporation Limited (SECI).

Although the government earns by leasing land on government land rented to power developers, it has to pay through the government coffers the tariffs quoted by the developers as a factor of land rents.



"The government has pursued plan to decrease lease price for land to buildup solar plant at a base price of Rs. 5 per acre per year so that it can results in lower tariffs of solar power to the government. To charge the government moderately there will be no loss due to rent, " the officials maintained.
