Demand to rise in post-Covid era: head of Coal India

There is a need to increase coal production in the country as demand for dry fuel is expected to increase with increasing economic activity in the post-Covid era.



New Delhi (Natural Energy News): Pramod Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Coal India Limited said that the miner is emphasizing on increasing its production as it is committed to meet the country's energy requirement.

There is a need to increase coal production in the country as demand for dry fuel is expected to increase with increasing economic activity in the post-Covid era.

Aggarwal oversaw the mining operations in Talcher belt of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of CIL in Odisha.


"The country desires to increase the production of coal," said Pramod Agrawal, bringing out the probability of increased requirement for dry fuel with boosting industrial action in the post-Covid duration.

The epidemic led to a sudden drop in demand, which forced mining subsidiaries to slow production and focus on other tasks such as removing overburden and strengthening transportation infrastructure.

He said that the Maharatna PSU will cross the production figure of 650 million tonnes during the 2020-21 fiscal year.
