Coal India production up by 6.3% during October-December 2020

During the last week of December, Coal India Limited delivered 154.6 MT of coal, an improvement of about 9.2%, production correlated to 141.6 MT in the third week of the earlier fiscal. Week-to-week improvement was 15% during July-September 2020 as related to off-take of 134.3 MT.



New Delhi (Natural Energy News): Coal India Limited (CIL) production grew by 6.3% to 156.8 million tonnes (MT) of coal during October-December 2020 as against 147.5 MT in the same quarter last year. The volume increase during this period was 9.3 MT.

Quarter-to-quarter production growth was 41.8 MT, an increase of 36.4%. An official said that CIL produced 115 MT during the second quarter of the current financial year.

"During the July-September 2020, customers in the non-power sector reports an increase of 43.4% supply of coal from Coal India, with an improvement in coal quantity," said a senior company official.

For October-December, CIL delivered 36.62 MT of production to non-power buyers as compared to 25.53 MT in July-September of last year. The incremental supply during the period was slightly over 11 MT.

Coal supply to power plants grew by a nominal 1.5% during the third quarter of the financial year. CIL had 117.8 MT in the power sector in October-December as compared to 116.07 MT in the same quarter last year.


The company saw a 17.6% increase in Q3 Finance to 366.23 million cubic meters in Q3 Finance compared to 311.52 million cubic meters in the third quarter of FY 2013-16, as the company lifted more burden in this quarter compared to the previous year.
