'Sunidhi' project launched to digitize coal mines provident fund organization services

The government on Friday announced the launch of 'Sunidhi', an ambitious information technology project to digitize all provident fund and pension related activities of the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization.


New Delhi (Natural Energy News): The government on Friday announced the launch of 'Sunidhi', an ambitious information technology project to digitize all the provident fund and pension related activities of the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO). The CMPFO is a statutory body under the Ministry of Coal, which administers various schemes of provident fund, pension and deposit linked insurance for coal workers.





The Coal Ministry said in a statement, "On the occasion of the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the CMPFO inaugurated the 'Superior New-Generation Information and Data Handling Initiative (SUNIDHI)', in response to the Prime Minister's call for Digital India campaign. ".

The Sunidhi module was inaugurated by settling the provident fund and pension arrears of three retired employees of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in the virtual presence of Anil Kumar Jain of Coal India and Pramod Aggarwal, Chairman of Coal India (CIL).


The Ministry said that the information technology project is an effort to digitalize all the activities related to the CMPFO's Provident Fund and Pension Fund to make the system more robust.


This software application is running in sync with the Disaster Recovery Center in Bhubaneswar from its data centre in Hyderabad.


He said, "All 23 offices of the CMPFO are connected to the data centre..."

The Coal Secretary advised opening information kiosks to provide information related to PF and pension in oral language.


He said that the effort of CMPFO should be to provide uninterrupted service to coal workers across the country.


Addressing the virtual gathering, Aggarwal emphasized further simplification and integration of enterprise resource planning (ERP) of CIL and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) with CMPFO for seamless transactions and flow of PF and pension data information.
