Gasification of 100 metric tons of coal for an investment of over Rs 4 lakh crore

This 100 metric tonne coal gasification will be in three phases. In the first phase - from 2020-2024 - 4 million tonnes (MT) of coal will be gasified and an investment of around Rs 20,000 crore will be made for this.

New Delhi (Natural Energy News): Coal gasification is the process of synovial production - a mixture consisting mainly of carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, natural gas and water vapour - from coal.

To encourage the use of clean sources of fuel, the government has provided a concession of 20 percent on the revenue share of coal used for gasification. Joshi said that it will boost production of artificial natural gas, energy fuels, urea for fertilizers and other chemicals.

Joshi was addressing a webinar on coal gasification and liquefaction organized by the Ministry of Coal.
