NTPC invites EPC tender for 1,070 MW solar projects in Rajasthan

Rajasthan (Natural Energy News): NTPC Limited has invited bids from engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors along with land for development of 1,070 MW solar projects in Rajasthan.




The last date for submission of bids is 17 September 2020. Interested bidders are expected to pay bid security amounting between ₹ 20 million (~ $ 268,118) and ₹ 500 million (~ $ 6.7 million) depending on the bid capacity. The details are as follows:

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of grid-connected solar projects on turnkey basis. Successful bidders are expected to provide three years of operation and maintenance services for solar projects, power evacuation systems and interconnecting state transmission utility (STU) substations.


The tender documents stated that the cells and modules used in the project should be open class and that the projects should be connected to a substation of at least 132 kV. The capacity of each project should be at least 50 MW or more in multiples of ten.

To participate in the competitive bidding process, bidders must establish at least 40 MW of projects (either as an EPC contractor or as a developer), of which at least one project was larger than 10 MW in capacity. The reference plant must have been in successful operation at least six months prior to the opening date of the techno-commercial bid.

NTPC had announced the last EPC tender in December 2019 for 500 MW grid-connected solar projects in Maharashtra.


NTPC has a capacity of 875 MW of large-scale solar projects in operation, which currently has a capacity of around 2.3 GW.
