Coal Ministry withdraws Bander mine from the auction

It is located in the eco-sensitive area of   Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve.

The Ministry of Coal has withdrawn the Bander mine in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra out of the list of 41 coal blocks put up for auction for commercial mining as it is located in the eco-sensitive area of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve.



In the evacuation notice issued on 21 July, the Ministry of Coal said, "Bidders please note that the Bandar coal mine is now part of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, as per the notification, the area as an environmentally sensitive area issued by the Ministry of Environment. Has been declared, forest and climate change




Accordingly, the Ministry of Coal has decided to withdraw the Bander coal mine from the auction process under the Coal Mines (Special Provisions) Act, 2015.

It said that Bandar coal mine was revoked from the 11th instalment of the auction


Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the auction process of 41 coal blocks for commercial mining.




The report further declares that the auction which was scheduled on 18 June for the auction of proposed coal mines, will be modified by this effect.

The block with a geological reserve of 126.105 million tonnes has a temporary peak rated capacity of two million tonnes per year.

Starting the auction of mines for commercial mining, the country is expected to raise Rs 33,000 crore of capital investment in the next 5-7 years, Mr Modi said that India would win the coronavirus war and turn this crisis into an opportunity, And the epidemic will make India self-reliant.




He said that this launch not only leads to the closure of the country's coal sector for decades but also aims to make India the largest exporter of coal.

Currently, despite being the fourth-largest producer in the world, India is the second-largest importer of dry fuel, Mr Modi said that the auction process would generate huge revenue for the states and provide employment in addition to developing remote areas. The creation will happen.

The declaration made under 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' for the auction process of these proposed coal blocks is predicted to contribute around ₹ 20,000 crores annually to the state governments.
