With immense pleasure and satisfaction we wish to inform all our valued members that Coal Preparation Society of India (CPSI) established in 2000 has completed 20 years of dedicated service to several important sectors of the nation’s economy. We have had an unblemished record in promoting technology and providing an unbiased platform to scientists to present their scientific papers in innumerable conferences and seminars.
To celebrate completion of 20 years of very fruitful existence CPSI is organising a one-day Anniversary Conference on Friday the 4th December 2020 on a very topical theme ‘Coal to dominate India's Energy Mix: Preparing it for responsible usage is imperative’.
You will extremely delighted to know that Mr. Justice Swatanter Kumar (Retd), Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal (NGT) has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest and will also be delivering the inaugural address.
Since COAL will continue to have a major share in the overall energy basket of India the theme of the conference has been selected keeping in mind the present day requirement. The large reserves of coal in the country need to be appropriately exploited with focus on efficient use with least impact on environment making the local domestic coal industry sustainable. This approach is a ‘Way Forward’ to achieve the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Atam Nirbharta (Self Sufficiency). Responsible usage of coal is unavoidable if India is to meet its target of reducing GHGs density by 30% of 2005 level by 2030 as committed at the COP21 Paris Climate Treaty. Further, the deliberation will also focus on alternate uses of coal like coal gasification, coal to liquid and further conversion to fertilisers, chemicals etc,
We also wish to inform you that the Union Minister of Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs and the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change will also grace the inaugural session and address the participants. In addition, senior officers from the Government of India, CEOs of both private and public sector corporations, subject matter experts both local and international will also share their thoughts on the topic of the day.

We have organized two technical sessions for discussions on coal cleaning and clean coal technologies, appropriate choices for Indian coal with high ash content and other related issues.
Before close of the conference there will a Panel Session in which some of the renowned policy makers, industry leaders and subject experts will share their thoughts with the participants.
