Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a 750-MW solar project in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Delhi Metro will be one of its institutional customers outside the state. The project consists of three 250 MW solar generating units located on a 500-hectare plot inside a solar park.



This solar plant of Rewa will not only provide electricity to the industries here, but Delhi Metro Rail will also get its benefits. In addition to Rewa, solar power plants are underway in Shajapur, Neemuch and Chhatarpur.

PM said that "Not just for the present, solar power will be a medium for 21st-century energy needs as solar energy is ensured, pure and safe: after Prime Minister Modi dedicated the country to a 750 MW solar project isn't called in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh did."


Rewa: India has emerged as the most attractive global market for clean energy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday.

Launching a 750 MW solar project in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh through video-conferencing, Modi also said that the state would emerge as a major hub for clean and affordable power in the country.

He also said that solar energy is pure and safe and from now after this project, India is now among the top five solar producing countries in the world.


Modi said that the Rewa solar power plant will supply electricity not only to Madhya Pradesh but also to the Delhi Metro.



Modi said that self-sufficiency in electricity is integral to 'self-sufficient India', adding solar energy will play an integral role in achieving this objective.

Modi said that the world is in a dilemma about focusing on the environment or focusing on the economy.


"Today, due to this solar project Rewa has created history. Rewa is identified as the mother Narmada and the white tiger. Now, the name of Asia's largest solar power project has also been added to it," he said.

Modi also congratulated the people of Rewa and Madhya Pradesh, adding the solar plant will help make the region a bigger centre of energy in this decade.

Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Union Ministers RK Singh and Dharmendra Pradhan attended the inauguration of the solar plant.

The Rewa project consists of three 250 MW solar generating units on 500 hectares of land located inside a solar park (total area 1500 hectares).


Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited, Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited develop this Solar park.
