Enel Green Power commences construction on 24 MW wind farm in Zaragoza

Enel Green Power has started construction of a 24 MW wind farm near the cities of Borja and Frzekeno in Zaragoza province. The amount of investment associated with this project is EUR 26 million.

The San Francisco de Borja wind farm will have 7 wind turbines, 5 of which will have a capacity of 3.4 MegaWatt and the other 2 having a capacity of 3.4 MegaWatt, which will generate approximately 92.5 GigaWatt per year, which is approximately equal to the power used by 29,000 homes. Its commissioning would save 61,270 tonnes of CO2 per year from being released into the atmosphere.

Enel Green Power connected the grid in 2019 to thirteen wind farms in Teruel and Zaragoza province in the Aragon region of Spain, with a total capacity of 424 MegaWatt. In 2020, the two provinces plan to add 82 new megawatts of wind power.

All its renewable energy generation plans are compatible with shared generation (CSV) schemes. CSV plans are designed in conjunction with environmental stakeholders and their ultimate objective is to maximize the socio-economic impacts that projects have on the community. This CSVs plan to prioritize other functions, the inclusion of local labour as well as catering services locally and housing workers.

The creation of this renewable capacity responds to EGP's strategy to fully decarbonize its generation mix by 2050. According to the company's latest strategic plan, the next milestone reaches 10.2 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2022, while at the end is 7.4 GW. In 2019, with a total investment of approximately 3.8 billion euros.

EGP currently manages over 7,452 MW of renewable capacity in Spain. Of this figure, 4,711 MW comes from conventional hydraulic generation; And the rest comes from 2,741 MW, Pawan (2,307 MW), Solar (352 MW), Mini Hydro (79 MW) and other renewable sources (3 MW).
