Tata Power plans to develop 120 MegaWatt solar project in Gujarat, 300 million kg of CO2

The plant is expected to generate around 300 million units of energy per year and will offset about 300 million kilograms of CO2 per year

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has received a letter from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) to develop a 120 MW solar project in Gujarat.

Energy will be supplied to GUVNL under a power purchase agreement valid for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commercial operating date. The company won this capability in a bid announced by GUVNL under Phase 8 in February.

This project must be completed within 18 months from the starting of the purchase agreement.

The plant is expected to generate around 300 million units of energy per year and will offset about 300 million kilograms of carbon dioxide annually.

Ashish Khanna, president of Renewables Division at Tata Power, said, "We hope that we will continue to build our capabilities, live up to expectations, and set high benchmarks all around."
Tata Power's renewable capacity will increase to 3,457 MW, of which 2,637 MW is operational and 820 MW is under implementation.
